Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after an entire year of watching baseball from anywhere other than the ballpark. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a reminder of what we may have missed while most of us were still staying at home.
The Padres (11-10) defeated the Los Angeles dodgers (14-5) by a score of 3-2 in the first game of four at dodger Stadium. Ryan Weathers (1-0, 0.59) threw five and two-thirds shutout innings, allowing one hit and a walk with six strikeouts. A.J. Pollock and Sheldon Neuse hit back-to-back solo home runs off Emilio Pagán in the seventh inning.
Walker Buehler (1-0, 2.16) gave up two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out nine over seven innings. Fernando Tatis Jr. scored on a single by Manny Machado in the fourth inning. Trent Grisham hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. Tatis Jr. ground into a double play however Jurickson Profar scored in the eighth inning.
