The Padres (60-46) were defeated by the Colorado Rockies (45-59) by a score of 9-4 in the second game of four at Petco Park. Ryan Weathers (4-3, 3.65) gave up eight runs on eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts in four innings. Ryan McMahon hit a grand slam home run in the first inning. Connor Joe hit a two-run home run and Brendan Rodgers hit an umpire-reviewed two-run home run in the fourth inning. Elias Diaz hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Jon Gray (7-6, 3.62) allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four over six and a third innings. Manny Machado hit a pair of two-run home runs; the first in the sixth inning with Ha-Seong Kim on base and the second in the eighth inning with Adam Frazier on base.
