The Padres (60-45) defeated the Colorado Rockies (44-59) in the first game of four at Petco Park by a score of 3-0. Joe Musgrove (7-7, 2.94) pitched seven shutout innings while allowing three hits and a walk with eleven strikeouts.
Kyle Freeland (1-6, 4.52) gave up one run on eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings. Fernando Tatis Jr. doubled in Tommy Pham in the first inning. Jake Cronenworth hit a two-run home run with Pham on base in the eighth inning.
