The Padres (3-1) lost the finale of their four-game series to the Arizona Diamondbacks (1-3) by a score of 3-1. Chris Paddack (0-1, 4.50) surrendered three runs (two earned) in four innings on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts. David Peralta tripled to drive in Ketel Marte and Christian Walker in the first inning. Peralta ground into a force out in the third inning and Josh Rojas scored on a subsequent throwing error by Fernando Tatis Jr.

Taylor Widener (1-0, 0.00) pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and three walks while striking out five. Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.
