Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of trying to login to Zoom meetings with fellow Padres fans. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were stuck in quarantine.
This is The Hangover.
Note: This series was played in San Diego because of poor air quality in and around Seattle due to wildfires in the Pacific Northwest. The Mariners played as the home team and the Padres were the road team.
The Padres (33-19) scored more runs, 6-1, than the Seattle Mariners (22-29) in the first of three games at Petco Park. Chris Paddack (4-4, 4.23) shutout the Mariners over six innings, allowing one hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Evan White hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.
Yusei Kikuchi (2-4, 5.93) gave up five runs on four hits and six walks with three strikeouts in four innings. Trent Grisham scored on a Kikuchi wild pitch in the third inning. In the fourth inning, Tommy Pham scored on Grisham fielder’s choice ground out and Manny Machado hit a three-run home run with Jake Cronenworth & Grisham on base. Machado hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.
