The Hangover 2020 – Games 24-25

Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of trying to login to Zoom meetings with fellow Padres fans. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were stuck in quarantine.

Game 24

Padres 14, Rangers 4

Winning Pitcher: Zach Davies (3-2, 3.25)

Losing Pitcher: Jordan Lyles (1-2, 7.52)

The Padres (12-12) scored more runs, 14-4, than the Texas Rangers (10-11) in the first game of two at Globe Life Field. Zach Davies (3-2, 3.25) allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six in five innings. Rougned Odor doubled in Joey Gallo & Nick Solak in the fourth inning. Danny Santana scored on Gallo’s double in the sixth inning. Solak ground into a forceout in the eighth inning and Santana scored on a throwing error by Jake Cronenworth.

Jordan Lyles (1-2, 7.52) gave up seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk with two strikeouts in four innings. Eric Hosmer scored on a Cronenworth double, Ty France & Cronenworth came home on a Jurickson Profar double, Josh Naylor singled to drive in Profar, and Naylor scored on a single by Trent Grisham in the second inning. Hosmer scored on an error in the third inning. Austin Hedges hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. Fernando Tatís Jr. hit a three-run home run with Hedges & Grisham on base in the seventh inning. Tatís Jr. hit a grand slam home run in the eighth inning with Profar, Naylor, & Grisham on base.
