The Padres (70-88) scored fewer runs, 6-4, than the Los Angeles Dodgers (102-56) in the second game of their three-game series at Petco Park. Dinelson Lamet (3-5, 4.07) gave up four runs on six hit and two walks while striking out ten over five innings. Joc Pederson hit a solo home run to leadoff the game and Max Muncy scored on a double by Corey Seager in the first inning. Chris Taylor hit a solo home run to leadoff the second inning. Pederson hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Edwin Rios hit a solo home run in the seventh inning. Russell Martin scored on a Peterson sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.

Ross Stripling (4-4, 3.51) allowed three runs in three innings on four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Greg Garcia & Wil Myers scored on a double by Francisco Mejía and Mejía scored on a Josh Naylor single in the first inning. Luis Urías scored on a Garcia single in the sixth inning.
