Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Hereβs a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.

Winning Pitcher: Mike Leake (11-10, 4.71)
Losing Pitcher: Cal Quantrill (6-6, 4.57)
The Padres (64-73) scored fewer runs than the Jingle Bells of Arizona (71-67), 14-7, in the first of three games at Chase Field. Cal Quantrill (6-6, 4.57) gave up eight runs on ten hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings. In the second inning, Christian Walker scored on a Nick Markakis single, Abraham Almonte scored on a Mike Leake ground out, Nick Ahmed scored on a wild pitch by Quantrill that was ball four for Jarrod Dyson, Josh Rojas doubled to drive in Rojas, and Ketel Marte hit a two-run home run. Alex Avila hit a double in the fifth inning to bring Eduardo Escobar and Almonte home. In the sixth inning, Rojas, Escobar, & Walker each hit a solo home run and Almonte scored on Ahmed’s single. Marte doubled in the seventh inning to plate Caleb Joseph & Rojas.
Leake (11-10, 4.71) allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out just one over six and a third innings. Manny Machado scored on Josh Naylor‘s single and Ty France hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning. In the eighth inning, Austin Hedges drew a bases-loaded walk to drive Naylor in, Manuel Margot singled to drive in France, and Travis Jankowski came home on Nick Martini‘s single.
