The Padres (58-65) scored more runs than the Philadelphia Phillies (64-60) in the finale of their three game series at Citizens Bank Park, 3-2. Joey Lucchesi (8-7, 4.20) allowed two runs on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts over six innings. Jean Segura doubled in Bryce Harper in the first inning. Adam Haseley scored on Segura’s double in the sixth inning. Haseley replaced Harper in the game after Harper was taken out due to dehydration after the fifth inning.
Jason Vargas (6-6, 3.99) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four in five and two-thirds innings. Luis Urías hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Austin Hedges hit a solo home run in the seventh inning. Hedges ended up going 4-for-4 on his birthday.
