The Padres (49-55) scored more runs than the San Francisco Giants (53-52) in the second of three games at Petco Park, 5-1. Cal Quantrill (4-2, 3.57) gave up one run in five and a third innings on three hits and four walks with four strikeouts. Mike Yastrzemski scored on Pablo Sandoval‘s single in the sixth inning.

Shaun Anderson (3-3, 5.06) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in five innings. Wil Myers doubled in the fourth inning to drive Hunter Renfroe in. Fernando Tatís Jr. hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Myers and Luis Urías scored on Greg Garcia‘s single in the sixth inning.
