Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after an entire year of watching baseball from anywhere other than the ballpark. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a reminder of what we may have missed while most of us were still staying at home.

The Padres (22-17) defeated the St Louis Cardinals (23-16) in the first game of three at Petco Park by a score of 5-4. Joe Musgrove (3-4, 2.86) allowed one run on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts over five innings. Tommy Edman scored on a sacrifice fly by Yadier Molina in the fifth inning. Tyler O’Neill hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning. Nolan Arenado hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.

Johan Oviedo (0-2, 5.74) gave up three run on two hits and five walks while not striking anyone out in two innings. Manny Machado‘s first inning double drove in Trent Grisham. Brian O’Grady‘s sacrifice fly in the third inning scored Machado and Tucupita Marcano ground into a force out allowing Jake Cronenworth to score. Grisham scored on a Machado single in the sixth inning. O’Grady came in to score on Ha-Seong Kim‘s sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
