The Padres (78-82) were defeated by the San Francisco Giants (106-54) in the first of three games at Oracle Park by a score of 3-0. Pedro Avila (0-1, 2.25) made his first appearance as a Padre since 2019, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in four innings. Darin Ruf hit a solo home run and Brandon Crawford scored on a Mike Yastrzemski single in the first inning. A LaMonte Wade Jr. sacrifice fly drove in Donovan Solano in the sixth inning.

Anthony DeSclafani (13-7, 3.17) pitched five shutout innings on four hits and no walks while striking out three.
