The Padres (68-60) were defeated by a score of 5-3 in sixteen innings by the Los Angeles dodgers in the second game of three at Petco Park. Blake Snell (6-5, 4.58) allowed one run on three hits and no walks with ten strikeouts in seven and two-thirds innings. Will Smith hit a solo home run in the eighth inning. Chris Taylor scored on a Billy McKinney single and Smith scored on Trea Turner‘s single in the fifteenth inning. A.J. Pollock hit a two-run home run in the sixteenth inning.

Walker Buehler (13-2, 2.02) gave up one unearned run on three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in six and two-thirds innings. Jake Cronenworth scored on a Wil Myers infield single in the second inning. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run home run with Victor Caratini on base in the fifteenth inning.
