The Padres (8-5) were defeated by a 5-1 score by the Pittsburgh Pirates (5-7) in the third of four games at PNC Park. Joe Musgrove (2-1, 0.47) allowed one run on four hits and two walk with six strikeouts in four innings. Gregory Polanco hit a solo home run in the second inning. Colin Moran singled to drive in Adam Frazier in the fifth inning. Polanco scored on a single by Erik Gonzalez and Frazier’s bases-loaded single drove in Dustin Fowler & Michael Perez in the eighth inning.

Tyler Anderson (1-2, 4.02) gave up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two over five and a third innings. Manny Machado scored on a single by Tommy Pham in the sixth inning.

The Padres (9-5) defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates (5-8) in the finale of their four game series at PNC Park by a score of 8-3. Chris Paddack (1-1, 4.15) allowed three runs (one earned) over five innings on five hits and two walks while striking out four. Colin Moran scored on an Erik Gonzalez double in the second inning. Bryan Reynolds reached on a Tucupita Marcano fielding error in the fifth inning and Anthony Alford & Adam Frazier came in to score.

Mitch Keller (1-2, 8.74) gave up seven runs on nine hits and three walks with one strikeout in three and a third innings. In the first inning, Jake Cronenworth‘s double scored Trent Grisham, Cronenworth came home on a Manny Machado two-run home run, and Eric Hosmer scored on Marcano’s double. Hosmer hit a bases-loaded single to drive in Jurickson Profar and Cronenworth in the second inning. Grisham scored on a Cronenworth sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Machado’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning brought Profar home.
