Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of trying to login to Zoom meetings with fellow Padres fans. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were stuck in quarantine.
The Padres (11-10) scored fewer runs, 5-1, than the Arizona Diamondbacks (9-11) in the first of three games at Chase Field. Dinelson Lamet (2-1, 1.59) allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out eight in six innings. Kole Calhoun hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. In the eighth inning, Daulton Varsho scored on Calhoun’s single, Ketel Marte‘s sacrifice fly drove in Nick Ahmed, Calhoun scored on Starling Marte‘s double, and Marte scored on a single by David Peralta.
Merrill Kelly (3-1, 1.71) pitched six and two-thirds shutout innings, allowing three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Wil Myers scored on a single by Jake Cronenworth in the ninth inning.
