Starling Marte singled to drive in Ketel Marte and David Peralta scored when Eduardo Escobar ground into a double play in the eighth inning. Ildemaro Vargas scored on K. Marte’s sacrifice fly and Peralta’s single drove in Tim Locastro in the ninth inning.
Zac Gallen (0-0, 2.25) gave up one run on two hits and five walks with six strikeouts in four innings. Eric Hosmer hit a solo home run in the third inning. Jake Cronenworth scored on a single by Greg Garcia in the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, Trent Grisham scored on a double by Cronenworth.
