The Hangover 2020 – Games 1-4

Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of trying to login to Zoom meetings with fellow Padres fans. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were stuck in quarantine.

Losing Pitcher: Madison Bumgarner (0-1, 4.76)

The Padres (1-0) scored more runs than the Arizona Diamondbacks (0-1), 7-2, in first game of their four-game series and the first game of 2020. Chris Paddack (1-0, 0.00) threw six shutout innings, surrendering four hits and a walk while striking out four. Kole Calhoun hit a solo home run in the seventh inning off Emilio Pagán. Christian Walker‘s ninth inning single off Javy Guerra scored Starling Marte.

Madison Bumgarner (0-1, 4,76) gave up three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three over five and two-thirds innings. Eric Hosmer hit two bases-loaded doubles in back-to-back innings to drive in six runs. His sixth inning double scored Fernando Tatís Jr., Tommy Pham, and Jurickson Profar. In the seventh inning, Trent Grisham scored on a single by Pham and Hosmer’s second double drove in Tatís Jr., Pham, and Profar again.
