Last Week In Faith: August 22-28, 2022

Life can get a little confusing at times. A regularly scheduled reminder is very convenient. So here’s a refresher of what happened during the last week in faith.

Game 125 – August 23

The Padres (68-57) were defeated by a score of 3-1 in the first of two games with the Cleveland Guardians (65-56) at Petco Park. Mike Clevinger (4-5, 3.59) allowed two runs on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings.

Game 126 – August 24

The Padres (68-58) were defeated by the Cleveland Guardians (66-56) 7-0 in a sweep of their two-game series at Petco Park. Blake Snell (5-7, 4.24) gave up six runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out four in three and a third innings.

Game 127 – August 26

The Padres (69-58) defeated the Kansas City Royals (51-76) by a score of 13-5 in the first of three games at Kauffman Stadium. Joe Musgrove (8-6, 2.96) allowed five runs (two earned) on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings.

Manny Machado scored on a Josh Bell single and Wil Myers doubled to drive in Brandon Drury & Bell in the first inning. Jurickson Profar‘s second inning double scored José Azocar. Myers and Jake Cronenworth hit back-to-back solo home runs in the third inning. Austin Nola scored on a single by Ha-Seong Kim in the sixth inning. Cronenworth’s single scored Bell, Myers scored on a Nola sacrifice fly, and a double by Kim drove in Cronenworth & Azocar in the seventh inning. Kim hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning.

Game 128 – August 27

The Padres (70-58) defeated the Kansas City Royals (51-77) in the second game of three at Kauffman Stadium by a score of 4-3. Yu Darvish (11-7, 3.41) gave up three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six in seven innings.

Wil Myers hit a two-run home run in the second inning. José Azocar scored on a Manny Machado single and a Brandon Drury single drove in Juan Soto in the third inning.

Game 129 – August 28

Royals 15, Padres 7

The Padres (70-59) were defeated by the Kansas City Royals (52-77) in the finale of their three-game series at Kauffman Stadium by a score of 15-7. Sean Manaea (7-7, 4.90) allowed six runs on ten hits and no walks while striking out four in four innings.

Manny Machado hit a solo home run in the first inning. Machado singled to drive in Trent Grisham in the third inning. Machado hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Juan Soto hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Josh Bell‘s ninth inning single drove in Machado.
