Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.

The Padres (46-51) scored fewer runs, 6-5, than the Chicago Cubs (53-44) in the first of three games at Wrigley Field. Eric Lauer (5-7, 4.31) allowed five runs on six hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings. Anthony Rizzo hit a grand slam home run in the third inning. Javier Báez hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Addison Russell scored on an Eric Hosmer fielding error on a David Bote ground ball fielder’s choice.

Jon Lester (9-6, 3.87) gave up four runs on twelve hits and no walks while striking out six over six innings. Manuel Margot scored on Hunter Renfroe‘s sacrifice fly in the first inning. Manny Machado hit a two-run home run in the third inning. Franmil Reyes came in to score on Francisco Mejía‘s double in the fifth inning. Josh Naylor hit a pinch-hit solo home run to lead off the eighth inning.
