The Padres (43-45) scored more runs, 3-2, than the Los Angeles Dodgers (60-30) in the second game of four at Dodger Stadium. Eric Lauer (5-7, 4.04) allowed two runs (one earned) over six innings on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts. Chris Taylor‘s single in the third inning drove in Austin Barnes. Alex Verdugo scored when Max Muncy hit into a fielder’s choice in the sixth inning.

Clayton Kershaw (7-2, 3.09) gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk while striking out nine in seven innings. Lauer scored on Eric Hosmer’s double and Fernando Tatis Jr. scored on a Manny Machado ground out in the third inning. Hunter Renfroe hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake shook Southern California and Dodger Stadium in the bottom of the fourth inning.
