The Pades (42-40) scored more runs than the St Louis Cardinals (40-41), 12-2, in the second game of three at Petco Park. Chris Paddack (5-4, 3.05) allowed one run in six innings on two hits and a walk while striking out eight. Tommy Edman led off the game with a solo home run. Edman later scored on a Yairo Munoz double in the eighth inning.

Dakota Hudson (6-4, 3.40) gave up seven runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts in just one and two-thirds innings. Francisco Mejia scored on Paddacks ground out, Josh Naylor scored on a Fernando Tatis Jr. single, Eric Hosmer singled to drive in Manuel Margot, Manny Machado hit a three-run home run, and Franmil Reyes hit a solo home run in the second inning. Machado hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Hosmer singled in Tatis Jr. in the sixth inning. Reyes hit a solo home run in the seventh inning. Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.
