The Hangover 2019 – Games 8-10

Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.

The Padres (5-3) scored more runs than the St Louis Cardinals, 5-3, in the opener of their three-game series at Busch Stadium in St Louis. Nick Margevicius (0-1, 1.80) gave up one run on one hit — a solo home runs by Paul DeJong in the fourth inning — and a walk with one strikeout in five innings. Robert Stock came in to relieve Margevicius to start the sixth inning and gave up one run on a single by Marcell Ozuna that drove in Matt Carpenter. Paul Goldschmidt hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.

Jack Flaherty (0-0, 3.86) pitched five innings, not allowing a run on six hits and two walks while striking out six. Hunter Renfroe hit a two-run pinch-hit home run with Franchy Cordero on base in the sixth inning. Cordero’s sacrifice fly in the seventh brought Manny Machado home and Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run home run to also bring Franmil Reyes in to score.
