The Padres (33-35) scored fewer runs than the San Francisco Giants (28-38), 4-2, in the finale of a quick two-game series at Oracle Park. Joey Lucchesi (5-4, 4.11) allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings on five hits and two walks while striking out six. Kevin Pillar hit a solo home run in the second inning. In the fifth inning, Steven Duggan scored on a Donovan Solano single — with Solano advancing to third base on a Josh Naylor throwing error — and Solano scored on a single by Evan Longoria. Duggar scored again in the seventh inning on Solano’s double. The Padres made three errors in the game.

Shaun Anderson (2-1, 3.97) gave up two run on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six innings. Manny Machado scored on a double by Eric Hosmer in the third inning. Manuel Margot scored on a Naylor ground out in the fifth inning.
