The Padres (21-17) scored more runs, 3-2, than the New York Mets (17-20) in the final game of their three game series at Petco Park. Matt Strahm (1-2, 3.00) gave up two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out seven in six and a third innings. Jeff McNeil scored on an Amed Rosario single in the first inning. Tomas Nido hit a solo home run in the second inning.

Wilmer Font (1-0, 5.50) allowed two runs on three hits and no walks with one strikeout in four innings. Eric Hosmer hit a solo home run in the second inning. Franmil Reyes’ single in the third inning drove in Strahm. Hunter Renfroe hit a go-ahead solo home run in the seventh inning.
