Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.

The Padres (47-53) scored fewer runs, 5-2, than the New York Mets (46-54) in the first of three games at Citi Field. Chris Paddack (6-5, 2.84) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five-plus innings. Robinson Canó hit three home runs: a solo in the fourth inning, a two-run in the sixth inning, and another two-run in the seventh inning. Pete Alonso was on base for both two-run home runs.

Jason Vargas (5-5, 3.96) shut the Padres out over six innings on one hit and four walk while striking out eight. Fernando Tatís Jr. scored on a Hunter Renfroe sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, a double by Tatís Jr. drove in Eric Hosmer.
