The Padres scored more runs than the San Francisco Giant in the fourth and final game of their Opening Weekend series at Petco Park. Chris Paddack (0-0) made his Major League debut, striking out seven and allowing one run on two hits and a walk in five innings. Pablo Sandoval’s RBI-double in the fifth inning scored Brandon Crawford.

Jeff Samardzija (0-0) pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits and four walks while striking out two. Eric Hosmer drove in Franchy Cordero with a single in the fifth inning. Hunter Renfroe scored on a Manny Machado ground ball that Machado ran out to prevent a double play in the seventh inning. Wil Myers scored on a Austin Hedges single in the eighth inning.
