The Padres (7-5) scored fewer runs than the San Francisco Giants (4-8), 7-2, in the second of three games at Oracle Park. Joey Lucchesi (2-1, 4.40) had his scoreless streak to start the season snapped, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walk with four strikeouts in four innings. The damage pretty much was done in the second inning. Evan Longoria singled to score Buster Posey, Yangervis Solarte doubled to drive in Brandon Crawford, Kevin Pillar hit a bases-loaded double, and Tyler Austin hit an RBI single. Gerardo Parra scored on Pillar’s sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
Derek Holland (1-1, 3.38) pitched seven innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks while striking out nine. Hunter Renfroe hit a solo home run in the seventh inning. Greg Garcia scored on a Wil Myers double in the eighth inning.
