Ian Kinsler hit a go-ahead three-run home run last night. That would have been an okay story, given his struggles lately. But it wasn’t THE story. No, it’s was what he did after crossing the plate that became the story.

On his way to the dugout, Kinsler was understanbly pumped up and excited, and then looked up into the crowd and yelled, “Fuck you! Fuck all you!”

After the game, when asked about it by reporters, he denied that it was directed at fans. “No,” he claimed. “That was for my teammates.”

Here’s the thing: Own it. Just say you heard the criticism from fans and emotions took over. No one believes “it was for my teammates.” Absolutely no one. If I had yelled expletives in the general direction of customers after completing a big sale, I doubt my coworkers would have been fired up.

I’m sure he’s going to “apologize” later today. And by apologize, I mean put out a prepared statement saying something about being sorry if anyone was offended or some such garbage. It’s not going to be a real apology, so don’t waste anyone’s time.

I’ve been very vocal about Kinsler’s performance this season. He’s royally sucked. Do I think now he won’t suck? That he’s going to turn his season around after that home run? No, I don’t. I still think the Padres need to cut bait and designate Kinsler for assignment. He’s playing worse than Chase Headley did last season, and they finally bit the bullet on that situation.

There is likely nothing that is going to change my opinion. So, fuck you. Fuck all you.
