The Padres (34-20) scored more runs than the Seattle Mariners (23-30), 7-4 in eleven innings, in the finale of their three-game series at Petco Park. The victory clinched a postseason berth for the Padres for the first time since 2006.

Dinelson Lamet (3-1, 2.07) allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out ten over six innings. Evan White scored on a Tim Lopes single in the fifth inning. Dylan Moore hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning. Lopes scored on a sacrifice fly by J.P. Crawford in the tenth inning.

Justin Dunn (3-1, 4.20) gave up three runs on two hits and four walks with six strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings. Wil Myers hit a three-run home run with Eric Hosmer & Mitch Moreland on base in the sixth inning. Jorge Mateo scored on a Fernando Tatis Jr. single in the tenth inning. In the eleventh inning, Moreland’s double scored Manny Machado, Jurickson Profar hit a single to drive in Moreland, and Austin Nola scored when Trent Grisham reached on a fielding error.
