The Hangover 2020 – Games 38-39

Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of trying to login to Zoom meetings with fellow Padres fans. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were stuck in quarantine.

The Padres (23-15) scored more runs, 11-4, than the Los Angeles Angels (12-25) in the first game of their two-game series at Angel Stadium. Dinelson Lamet (2-1, 2.62) allowed three runs on five hits and walk while striking out six over six and two-thirds innings. Mike Trout hit a two-run home run in the third inning. Justin Upton scored on an Albert Pujols double in the fourth inning. Andrelton Simmons singled in the ninth inning to drive in Jared Walsh.

Julio Teheran (0-2, 7.94) gave up two runs on three hits and three walk with two strikeouts in five innings. Jurickson Profar hit a two-run home run with Eric Hosmer on base in the fourth inning. Manny Machado scored on Profar’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. In the eighth inning, a Jason Castro double drove in Hosmer & Jake Cronenworth, Fernando Tatís Jr. drew a bases-loaded walk to score Castro, Machado singled to drive in Greg Allen & Trent Grisham, and Hosmer hit a three-run home run with Tatís Jr. & Machado on base.
