The Padres (20-15) scored fewer runs than the Colorado Rockies (17-16) in the second of four games at Coors Field. Michel Baez (0-0, 7.71) started in place of Adrian Morejon — who was placed on the injured list with an undisclosed ailment — with two and a third innings, allowing one run on four hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Josh Fuentes scored on Trevor Story‘s single in the third inning. Garrett Hampson singled to drive in Brendan Rodgers and Ryan McMahon scored on Raimel Tapia‘s single in the seventh inning. Daniel Murphy singled to drive in Hampson with the walk-off run in the ninth inning.

Antonio Senzatela (3-1, 3.32) shutout the Padres over seven innings on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts. In the eighth inning, Jake Cronenworth‘s double drove in Fernando Tatís Jr. & Manny Machado and Cronenworth scored on Wil Myers‘ single.
