The Padres (14-12) scored more runs, 6-3 in ten innings, than the Texas Rangers (10-13) in the first of two games at Petco Park. Chris Paddack (2-2, 4.26) gave up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five in six innings. Rougned Odor hit a solo home run in the second inning. Joey Gallo hit a solo home run in the ninth inning. Nick Solak scored on a Willie Calhoun single in the tenth inning.
Lance Lynn (3-0, 1.37) allowed two runs on eight hits and no walks with six strikeouts over seven innings. Jurickson Profar and Fernando Tatís Jr. each hit solo home runs in the third inning. Manny Machado hit a grand slam home run with Profar, Trent Grisham, and Tatís Jr. on base for the walk-off win in the tenth inning.
