The Padres (33-33) scored fewer runs, 5-2, than the Washington Nationals (30-35) in the finale of their four-game series at Petco Park. Luis Perdomo (1-0, 3.43) pitched three and a third innings to start off a bullpen day, allowing one unearned run on two hits while not walking nor striking out any batters. Trea Turner scored on Anthony Rendon’s ground out in the first inning. In the eighth inning, Craig Stammen gave up four consecutive solo home runs to Howie Kendrick, Turner, Adam Eaton, and Rendon.

Stephen Strasburg (7-3, 3.36) gave up one run on six hits and no walks with six strikeouts over seven innings. Franmil Reyes scored on an Ian Kinsler single in the fourth inning. Eric Hosmer scored on Reyes’ ground out in the ninth inning.
