The Padres (22-21) scored fewer runs than the Los Angeles Dodgers (29-16), 2-0, in the finale of their two-game series at Dodger Stadium. Matt Strahm (1-3, 3.07) pitched five innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Kenta Maeda (5-2, 3.51) shutout the Padres over six and two-thirds innings on three hits and no walks while striking out twelve. Maeda also hit a two-run single in the second inning.

Also, somehow Ian Kinsler managed to get himself ejected from a game he wasn’t playing in after the home plate umpire heard him complaining about something during the fifth inning while Kinsler was in the dugout.
