The Padres (19-16) scored more runs than the Los Angeles Dodgers (22-14), 8-5, in the finale of their three-game series at Petco Park. Nick Margevicius (2-3, 3.47) pitched five and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and three walks with no strikeouts. Max Muncy hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Chris Taylor hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning.
Kenta Maeda (3-2, 4.66) allowed four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings. Franmil Reyes hit a solo home run in the first inning. Francisco Mejia’s triple drove in Greg Garcia in the second inning. In the fourth inning, a double by Garcia scored Eric Hosmer and a sacrifice fly by Mejia brought Wil Myers home. In the ninth inning, Hunter Renfroe hit a pinch-hit walk-off grand slam.
