The Padres (12-11) scored more runs than the Cincinnati Reds (8-13), 4-3, in the finale of their four-game series at Petco Park. Joey Lucchesi (3-2, 4.33) pitched five and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks while striking out eight. Matt Kemp scored on Jose Iglesias’ single in the second inning. Kyle Farmer and Eugenio Suarez each hit a solo home run in the seventh inning.

Tyler Mahle (0-2, 3.52) gave up four runs on seven hits with no walks and nine strikeouts in six innings. Austin Hedges hit a solo home run, a double by Wil Myers drove in Manuel Margot & Manny Machado, and Eric Hosmer hit a double to drive in Myers in the third inning.
