The Hangover 2019 – Games 143-146

Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.

Losing Pitcher: Cal Quantrill (6-7, 5.12)

The Padres (66-77) scored fewer runs than the Chicago Cubs (77-66), 10-2, in the first of four games at Petco Park. Cal Quantrill (6-7, 5.12) gave up eight runs in four and a third innings on ten hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Nick Castellanos hit a two-run home run in the first inning. Nico Hoerner scored on David Bote‘s bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, Kyle Schwarber hit a solo home run, Castellanos & Victor Caratini scored on Hoerner’s triple, Jason Heyward singled to drive in Hoerner, and Heyward scored on Kyle Hendricks‘ sacrifice bunt. Hoerner singled in the sixth inning to drive in Schwarber & Castellanos.

Hendricks (10-9, 3.33) allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts over five and two-thirds innings. In the fourth inning, Nick Martini scored when Eric Hosmer reached on a fielder’s choice and Manny Machado came home on Wil Myers‘ sacrifice fly.
