The Padres (65-76) scored more runs than the Colorado Rockies (60-83), 3-0, in the second game of three at Petco Park. Joey Lucchesi (10-7, 3.84) shut the Rockies out over six innings on two hits and five walks while striking out eight.

Jeff Hoffman (1-6, 7.06) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings. Wil Myers hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Manny Machado hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.
