The Padres (64-75) scored fewer runs than the Jingle Bells of Arizona (73-67), 4-1, getting swept in their three game series at Chase Field. Chris Paddack (8-7, 3.54) shut the Jingle Bells out over five and a third innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out eight. Ketel Marte hit a grand slam home run off of Luis Perdomo in the seventh inning.

Zac Gallen (3-4, 2.50) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning — giving up a single to Manny Machado with one out — with one walk and striking out eight in seven innings. Wil Myers hit a pinch-hit solo home run in the ninth inning.
