The Padres (60-69) scored more runs, 3-1, than the Boston Red Sox (70-62) in the finale of their three-game interleague series at Petco Park. Joey Lucchesi (9-7, 4.11) gave up one run on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings. J.D. Martinez hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Brian Johnson (1-3, 6.83) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks with a strikeout in three innings. Manuel Margot scored on Francisco Mejía‘s single and Manny Machado hit a two-run home run in the first inning.
