August 19-21, 2019
Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.
The Padres (59-65) scored more runs than the Cincinnati Reds (58-66), 3-2, in the first of three games at Great American Ballpark. Eric Lauer (6-8, 4.47) gave up one run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in four innings. Freddy Galvis hit a solo home run in the second inning. Galvis scored in the ninth inning on Josh VanMeter‘s single.
Trevor Bauer (10-10, 4.06) allowed three runs (two earned) over seven innings on five hits and a walk while striking out eleven. Greg Garcia scored on Manny Machado single in the first inning. Francisco Mejía hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. Garcia scored when Josh Naylor reached on a fielding error in the fifth inning.
