The Hangover 2019 – Games 118-120

Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.

The Padres (55-63) scored fewer runs than the Tampa Bay Rays (67-50), 10-4, in the first game of three at Petco Park. Joey Lucchesi (7-7, 4.25) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings. Avisail Garcia hit a two-run home run in the first inning. Guillermo Heredia scored on Matt Duffy‘s single in the third inning. Heredia scored on Jesus Aguilar‘s single and Duffy’s single drove in Garcia in the seventh inning. In the eighth inning, Willy Adames scored on a Travis d’Arnaud ground out, Eric Sogard scored on an Aguilar fielder’s choice, Heredia scored on a wild pitch by Carl Edwards Jr., and Aguilar came home on an Oliver Drake single.

Diego Castillo (2-6, 3.43) opened the game for the Rays with one inning, giving up one unearned run on two hits and no walks or strikeouts. Fernando Tatís Jr. scored on Eric Hosmer‘s double in the first inning. Manuel Margot came home on Lucchesi’s single in the second inning. Ian Kinsler — who came in to pitch a scoreless ninth inning — hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning.
