The Padres (55-62) scored fewer runs than the Colorado Rockies (53-65), 8-3, in the final game of four at Petco Park. Dinelson Lamet (1-2, 3.86) gave up two runs on three hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in five-plus innings. Yonder Alonso hit a two-run home run, Ryan McMahon scored on Ian Desmond‘s single, and Desmond scored on a German Márquez single in the sixth inning. Tony Wolters came home on Raimel Tapia‘s single and Tapia scored on a double by Trevor Story in the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, Alonso scored on a Desmond single and Wolters’ single drove in McMahon.

Márquez (11-5, 4.75) allowed three runs over eight innings on five hits and two walks with nine strikeouts. Francisco Mejía hit a solo home run in the second inning. Josh Naylor hit a solo home run in the third inning. Greg Garcia ground into a double play in the seventh inning but Hunter Renfroe scored from third base.
