Trevor Story‘s third inning double drove in Charlie Blackmon. Blackmon hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Jon Gray (10-8, 4.06) gave up seven runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out four in five and two-thirds innings. Fernando Tatís Jr. led off the first inning with a solo home run and Manny Machado scored on a single by Eric Hosmer. Luis Urías scored on a single by Tatís Jr. in the second inning. In the sixth inning, Francisco Mejía scored when Urías reached on an error, pinch-runner Manuel Margot scored on a wild pitch by Gray, Urías scored when Tatís Jr. reached on a throwing error, and Greg Garcia & Tatís Jr. scored on Wil Myers‘ double.
