Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.
The Padres (52-60) scored more runs, 9-4, than the Seattle Mariners (47-68) in the first of two games at T-Mobile Park. Dinelson Lamet (1-2, 3.90) had a no-hitter going through six and a third innings, until Omar Narvaez hit a single in the seventh inning. Lamet shut the Mariners out over seven innings, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out twelve. In the eighth inning, Mallex Smith scored on Domingo Santana‘s single, J.P. Crawford came home on a throwing error by Austin Hedges when Santana stole second base, and Tim Lopes hit a two-run home run.
Matt Wisler (2-2, 4.82) started the game with a perfect inning as an opener for the Mariners. Wade LeBlanc (6-5, 5.38) pitched five innings, giving up five runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts. In the fifth inning, Hunter Renfroe scored on Manuel Margot‘s single, a Luis Urías single drove in Josh Naylor, Margot scored on Hedge’s sacrifice bunt, and Fernando Tatís Jr. hit a two-run home run. Eric Hosmer hit a two-run home run and Naylor hit a solo home run in the eighth inning. Tatís Jr. scored on Wil Myers‘ single in the ninth inning.
