The Padres (48-53) scored more runs than the New York Mets (46-55), 7-2, in the second game of three at Citi Field. Dinelson Lamet (0-2, 5.00) gave up two runs on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts in four innings. Michael Conforto hit an RBI single to drive in Jeff McNeil in the first inning. Conforto scored on Robinson Canó‘s ground out in the third inning.

Noah Syndergaard (7-5, 4.33) pitched seven innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and five walks while striking out eight. Austin Hedges‘ second inning single drove in Hunter Renfroe. In the third inning, Manuel Margot scored on Eric Hosmer‘s sacrifice fly, Manny Machado scored on Renfroe’s single & Renfroe took second base on a fielding error, and Franmil Reyes doubled to drive in Renfroe. Hedges drove in Luis Urías with a double and Fernando Tatís Jr. singled to drive in Hedges in the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, Machado scored on Renfroe’s sacrifice fly.
