San Francisco Giants 3, Padres 2

Winning pitcher: Dereck Rodríguez (1-0)

Losing pitcher: Nick Margevicius (0-1)

MLB Box Score

The Padres scored fewer runs than the San Francisco Giants in Game 3 of their four-game series at Petco Park. Nick Margevicius (0-1) made his Major League debut, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with five strikeouts in five-plus innings. Normally, that would have been enough for a win, but Robert Stock relieved Margevicius with no outs in the sixth inning and Steven Dugger on first base and left the game three batters later, having giving up a double to Yangervis Solarte, a single to Evan Longoria, and walking Buster Posey. Joe Panik hit a bases-loaded single later in the inning off Robbie Erlin to score Longoria.

Dereck Rodríguez (1-0) pitched five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks with two strikeouts. Eric Hosmer doubled in the sixth inning to drive Manuel Margot and Ian Kinsler home.
